Cydni's School of Dance
CSD consist of qualified instructors that provide training that will prepare those students who desire to enter a career that is professional and/or recreational. We invite you to explore our site and learn more about how we get the most out of every dancer that joins our studio.
Mrs. Cydni has been dancing since the age of three. She studied for over 20 years at Linda Lavender's School of Dance in Monroe, LA, and was a member of the Twin City Ballet Company. Mrs. Cydni studied under the direction of Madame Cecelia Kelly and Linda Ford. She attended college at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and was on the Warbonnets dance line and a member of the ULM Dance Company. She is also now on the Twin City Ballet Professional Board of Directors.
Mrs. Cydni has attended various dance conventions and intensives around the United States. She has studied under world renowned dance professionals, such as Joe Tremaine, Lea Darwin, David Howard, Art Stone, Barry Youngblood, and Gus Giordano to name a few. Mrs. Cydni continues to travel to dance workshops and conventions with her students so they can have the opportunity to train under the dance professionals of today.
Her students have received scholarships to study at the Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensives, and scholarships at dance conventions to attend Nationals in New York and Los Angeles. Also, some of Mrs. Cydni's former students have danced on Royal Caribbean Cruise ships, Broadway Shows, in New York and Los Angeles Industrials, and the Atlanta Ballet Company.
Her dancers provide the entertainment for the Miss Minden Pageant and Shreveport pageants. Also, her students have recently been crowned Miss Minden and the talent winner, including her own daughter, Cyd Hutson.
Mrs.Cydni has been tested and accredited by the Southern Association of Dance Masters, and the Joyce Newman Training School.
Cyd Hutson is the daughter of Tommy and Cydni Huston. She has danced for over 18 years, and been a member of the CSD Competition Teams for over 10 years. Cyd is currently an instructor at the Minden studio and Oak Grove studio locations. She also instructs and choreographs for the CSD Mini and Petite Competition teams.
Cyd has studied with some of the most prestigious dance professionals in the United States, such as Joe Lanteri, Mia Michaels, John Magnus, Bruce Stegman, Gregg Russell, Tyce Diorio (from So You Think You Can Dance), and Suzi Taylor to name a few. She has attended various dance conventions and intensives around the U.S., and danced with the Twin City Ballet Company in Monroe, LA.
Cyd was a member of the New Orleans Saints Cheerleading team during the 2011-2012 season. She was crowned Miss Minden 2010 and Talent Winner, Miss MHS Daring 2010, and Miss Bossier City 2011, and competed at Miss Louisiana.
Cyd is a Junior at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and is majoring in Marketing.
Marisa Smith Young
Marisa Smith Young has trained at CSD for 20 years. She is a soloist and Artist in Residence at the Twin City Ballet Company, where she has been a member for 10 years. Marisa competed with the CSD Competition teams, and won numerous awards and overall high score awards for her solos. She has received scholarships at dance conventions to dance in Los Angeles and New York, and was awarded overall dancer of the weekend at the Co. Dance Convention, New York City Dance Alliance, JUMP, LA Dance Magic, and LA Dance Force.
Marisa has studied under world renowned teacher and choreographers, such as Mia Michaels, Travis Wall, Tyce Diorio, Nick Lazzareni, Dee Caspary, Joe Lanteri, Ray Leeper, Tabitha and Napoleon, and Danny Tidwell just to name a few. She recently traveled with the TCB and performed in Montreal, Canada.
Marisa is the instructor/choreographer for our Junior and Senior competition teams.
Lauren Murphy began her training with Mrs. Cydni at the age of 3. Throughout the years she has trained with some of the nations leading dance instructors. She began her intensive training at the age of 12 when she joined Twin City Ballet Company as an apprentice and later became an Artist in Residence.
Lauren has received scholarships to study with Joffrey Ballet School, North Carolina School of the Arts, and American Ballet Theater. She has also studied with the International Ballet Competition, the Milwaukee Ballet School, and danced professionally for the City Ballet of San Diego.
Lauren loves to teach the art of ballet and has taught at Southern Arkansas University Continuing education, Magnolia Arts Center, Centenary Collage, City Ballet School in San Diego, and more.
Bonnie Haynie was a
student at Cydni’s School of Dance for more than 13 years. During this time she
was a member of the CSD Competition Team, Soloist and Assistant Teacher.
3 summers attending the Joffrey Ballet School Summer Intensive. She attended
the International Ballet Competition Workshop in Jackson, Ms. in 2010 and 2014. She was a Sr. Member of Twin City Ballet
Company and was recently selected as a company assistant with Ty Riley’s
Streetz Dance Convention.
Bonnie was a member of the Twin City Ballet Company for 6 years. She performed in several productions such as the Nutcracker, Where Are You Christmas, Buddy the Elf, Ballet Under the Stars and Holy Kiroli - Arts in the Park.
